I’m thrilled to announce that The Descent, directed by Holly Lawrenson Evans, has received international recognition at multiple film festivals! As the composer for this experimental short film, it’s been valuable to see how the project has resonated with audiences worldwide.
The film has been awarded:
Creating the score for The Descent was a unique creative challenge that allowed me to explore the intersection of experimental sound design and traditional composition. The film’s atmospheric and psychological elements called for unsettling ambient textures
I approached the soundtrack using a combination of synthesis techniques and recorded sounds, processing them to create an immersive sonic landscape that complements the film’s striking visuals and narrative. Working closely with Holly, we focused on building tension and atmosphere.
These awards are a wonderful recognition of the entire team’s dedication to pushing creative boundaries. I’m grateful to have been part of this project and to see it receiving such positive attention on the international festival circuit.
The film continues its festival run, and we look forward to sharing it with wider audiences soon.
